Adele tops IFPI 2021 album charts with hit comeback record ’30’

“It was wonderful to have Adele back and releasing music in the second half of last year,” IFPI chief executive Frances Moore said in a statement.
“His dominance on all three IFPI album charts is a testament to his unique songwriting talent, iconic voice and relentless global popularity.”

Known for her ballads about grief and longing, Adele said she wrote ’30’ to explain her divorce to her young son.
“Following its November 2021 release, ’30’ surpassed over five million physical album equivalent units in 2021 alone, in less than two months,” IFPI said.
“Sour” by American singer Olivia Rodrigo finished second in the Top 10 Global Album All Format Chart, followed by “Justice” by Canadian pop star Justin’s Bieber.
ABBA’s “Voyage,” the Swedish supergroup’s first album in 40 years, was No. 2 in the global Top 10 album sales chart, followed by K-pop group SEVENTEEN’s “Attacca.”
For the vinyl album chart, Harry Style’s “Fine Line” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” round out the top 3.
