Harry Styles performs “Boyfriends” on “The First Take”

Harry Styles performed only the final cuts of his third studio album, Harry’s house, a few times before launching the final leg of his long “Love on Tour” trek. Still, the musician was up for the challenge of performing “Boyfriends” in one take on Japanese YouTube channel The First Take.
Styles was joined by Sarah Jones and Elin Sandberg for backing vocal assistance, while Mitch Rowland led on acoustic guitar with Ny Oh on both guitar and backing vocals.
The stripped-down acoustic performance sticks to the track’s original arrangement just as it debuted when Styles headlined Coachella in April. “Boyfriends” was originally recorded during the making of his second album Thin linebut the singer was determined to spend more time with it before releasing the track.
“There were a lot of different versions. We were trying to figure out what was the best version on the album. There was like, different guitars and different vocal arrangements,” Styles said. TODAY in a recent appearance. “There was something about it that was kind of one of those. We could have rushed to get it ready, and I felt like there was something special about it and I kind of wanted to take my time with it. I knew it would find its place in the album. It was meant to be and I love the song.
