The town of Indio is looking for developers, artists and producers as part of efforts to bring additional culture, entertainment and activation to its downtown project.

On Tuesday, the city issued a “Request for Qualifications” (RFQ) for vendors and developers to produce monthly events.

It comes as city officials are working to design a comprehensive ‘plug-and-play’ venue for downtown musicians and performers at Miles Avenue and Smurr Street for events to be held on Second Saturday. of the month from the beginning of 2022.

Experienced producers, vendors and event promoters are encouraged to submit qualifications to participate in and coordinate a mix of high caliber local events, entertainment, food, music and dance to enrich the Indio experience and downtown.

City officials say these events will be free to residents and visitors and may include food / food trucks, retail, art, and a ‘walk’ space for music and drinks.

The location of these events will take place in this new venue, unofficially dubbed the “outdoor lounge”. This space is near the recently approved Colossal Cacti art sculptures and three new restaurants in development on Miles Avenue.

The City’s RFQ will award contracts for some or all of the months and should deal with the staff needed to manage events professionally, oversee general production, and prepare a marketing and publicity plan for the events.
