Indo-American singer-songwriter Sruthi Dhulipala releases new single ‘Madhuram’ – Watch | Global

MUMBAI – Singer-songwriter, Disney TV professional and young and aspiring talent at 25, Sruthi Dhulipala has Carnatic music in her blood and honed her talent by learning Carnatic singing under the tutelage of the Hyderabad sisters . She is also trained in contemporary singing and singing performed at the Shankar Mahadevan Academy.
Being based in the US right now has allowed her to warmly embrace her Carnatic heritage while seamlessly blending it into everything she composes and sings – most notably her three independent singles – the recent “Madhuram” , a Sanskrit composition, followed by two other singles which will be released soon.
“I learned ‘Madhurashtakam’ as a child and often sang the MS Subbulakshmi version at concerts. Recently, while humming it, I decided to give it an original twist, ”explains Dhulipala.
“Madhuram” takes up the original concept of a devotee calling on Lord Krishna gracious and all that is sweet, in Dhulipala drawing similar parallels with life, claiming that the world will seem sweet if we see it as such by celebrating simple charms of life. For this song, the young singer collaborated with established instrumentalist Sruthi Balamurali for the flute parts while the video features Bharatanatyam actress and dancer Sneha Yarabati.
After “Madhuram”, Dhulipala is set to release two more independent singles, a Telugu song titled “Ee Parugu” and an untitled Indipop Hindi melody in the coming months.
