Jack Trades teams up with Piques and Rachel West to release new single “Right Thing”
Renowned Canadian talent Jack Trades returns with his first sound offering of the year, “Right Thing”.
This time around, he joins alongside esteemed DJ/producer Piques and singer/songwriter Rachel West. The new collaborative effort is a direct follow-up to Jack Trades and Heather Jannsen’s “On My Mind” from late October, in addition to January’s “Me Without You” and Piques’ “You Make Hope Look Good.” West of the same month. Now available through Physical Presents, “Right Thing” is available on all streaming platforms.
The emotionally charged tune begins immediately with a muffled voice, courtesy of Rachel West. A catchy four-on-the-floor beat quickly follows and pairs perfectly with her perfectly executed vocal performance.
Soaring, anthemic and full of sonic depth, her singing voice glides through the three-minute runtime, leaving the listener with a strong desire for more. Piques and Jack Trades deliver a propelling, club-ready vibe to the track with their signature production sensibilities, infusing it with much-needed electronic dance music flair that goes hand in hand with Rachel West’s smooth vocals and rich lyricism.
“When I wrote the instrumental demo and sent it to Piques and Rachel, they came back to me with the initial concept for ‘Right Thing’. Rachel being the amazing songwriter that she is, writes something emotional yet upbeat, which hooked me right away. Rachel created quite the vibe and it was definitely a challenge to make sure we had the right elements in place. returns with the many different versions, agreed to keep the verses minimal with some feathering and drumming in. But where the record really shines is when the pianos enter the pre section and carry that energy throughout the downfall. Super proud of this one!”
