Local music artist talks about growing recognition

JACKSON, miss (WJTV) – Devin Cousin remembers holding a microphone in his hand from the age of six. Throughout his childhood, he was cradled by the angelic voice of his late mother, Vaniessa Cousin, who was a singer and author of publications before passing away from cancer in May 2021.
As Devin entered his teens, his vision of becoming a musical artist sharpened – he credits his mother’s influence – and his tunnel vision flared up in full effect. In 2015, Cousin developed his stage name: devMaccc. The three C’s in her name aren’t for aesthetic purposes, they signify cool, calm, and serene, attributes Cousin uses to identify her personality.
From attending local music festivals and performing at local boutiques, devMaccc has continued to develop his skills and establish his sound signature as a hip-hop artist rapping on personal life experiences.

Growing up in Jackson and then moving to Florence, for devMaccc, the music scene he envisioned called a different approach: creating his own path, embracing perspective, and bringing it into play.
After releasing singles on EPs or albums and collaborating with local Jackson artists and producers under his music label Wolf Pack, his recognition began to grow – a reality that takes him back to humble beginnings, sacrifices and the love of family.
In August, her cousin, Aleah Melody, posted a TikTok on Twitter, expressing his admiration for devMaccc and his talent. He has received 1.1 million views and counts and support has poured into his feeds, has amplified his fan base around the world and inspired him to create his latest single “Mill Preppin ‘”.
As devMaccc continues to grow in popularity, he said his goal is not only to share authentic and inspiring messages through music, but also to make Wolf Pack a must-have for budding Mississippi artists who, they too are committed to making their dreams come true.
