Music Festival – Free activities

The music museum is a proud participant in Celebrate musica free worldwide celebration of music on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France under the name Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 750 cities in 120 countries.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Celebrate music is open to anyone wishing to participate. Musicians of all types – young and old, amateurs and professionals, of all musical persuasions – pour into the streets, parks, plazas and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors and strangers. All of this is free and open to the public.
The Music Museum joins the global celebration of Music Day with a new special exhibition titled “What good is music?” and musical entertainment all day long. There’s something for everyone at the Fête de la Musique!

Discover in preview the new exhibition of the Museum of Making Music: What good is music? Chances are you have some ideas about what “good music” is. But what about good music? What is music for? What good is music? What is it for you, for us and for the world? We invite you to reflect on these questions and join us in a conversation about the goodness of music!
Organize activities for the Fête de la Musique at the Museum (FREE!)
11:00 a.m. — Drum Circle #1
We have the drums! You have the rhythm! Borrow a drum or percussion instrument from the Museum and join our trained entertainers for a special drum circle that’s sure to get you in the groove.
1:00 p.m. — Make & Play: Shake it up with Studio ACE
Children and families are there! Build and design a musical shaker with our friends at Studio ACE. We provide the supplies, you provide the inspiration and the pace!
2:00 p.m. — Drum Circle #2

ALL DAY (10am – 5pm) — Jam on the Lawn
Want to share a song, sing, play guitar or jam with others? Bring your instrument to the Museum and join us just outside the Museum entrance doors for a jam on the lawn. Seating is limited, so bring a folding chair.
