Ossama Masut Khalid, 20, commonly known as Okkama, is entering the Rwandan music industry.

Based in Rwanda, Ossama was born to a Rwandan mother and an Arab father, and grew up with a great passion for music.

“My passion and my career lie in music. I felt it grow, and then I started to do it, ”Ossama said.

The singer says the music gets him through his darkest days; he uses it as a form of healing for himself and believes he can use it to heal others.

“Music is my comfort zone and my safe space. It cools my stress and gives me peace, ”Ossama said.

As a former music student at the Nyundo School of Art, Ossama said he has learned many skills that play an important role in his musical career.

“The skills I learned in school are at the heart of my musical career. I love music, but I learned a lot from my four years in Nyundo, ”Ossama said.

Ossama, who is still new to the music industry, says he can perform a wide range of song genres as a professional musician. His most recent song, Iyallah, received a lot of attention and positive feedback, which he describes as a huge boost.

“I don’t have a particular musical genre. I do RnB, Afrobeat, trap, funk and blues ”, declared Ossama

Ossama now has two Toto songs, which he released while still a student, and “Iyallah”, a current hit in Rwanda and Africa. He is also working on his first album.

“I always come back to the story of my life when I write a song or the experiences of other people because each person has a unique story, and as a musician I tell it to the audience,” Ossama said when ‘he was asked for his inspiration to write music.

“The biggest challenge was when I was still a student, juggling music and my academics. It delayed me in my career and affected my schoolwork, ”Ossama said. “Apart from that, being an artist without management can also be difficult because you have to do everything by yourself,” he added.

As Osama gains a large number of fans in his home country, he aspires to be an international musical artist, which he says he will achieve by working hard and creating his own distinctive music, as well as by taking advantage of the advice he receives, do not forget his abilities.

The singer is expected to release a song with Kenny Sol soon.
