A man from Hull who wrote a song about his love for the city and its people decided to donate all the money he gets from it to charities that support the homeless and the education of children.

Andy Conyers, 59, from west Hull, is a courier driver by day, but he has a flair who loves music and entertainment. Under the pseudonym Andy the Entertainer, he conducts karaoke in his spare time.

After the first hit of the pandemic, Andy decided to release his second single dedicated to his love for the city of East Yorkshire.

In the song called “I Love My Town Called Hull” Andy expresses how he thinks that despite having been to several other towns in the region, he hasn’t found anything like it.

He said: “I wanted to record this song which is about my experiences driving in Europe and visiting other countries, but there is nothing like your own place where you live.

“I am very proud of my city, I have been everywhere and I am so proud of my hometown.

“There are a lot of charities out there, but I thought about the homeless and the kids who missed out on school because of the pandemic, and they’ve been massively affected by it all.

“There are a lot of people suffering there. So I thought if I could raise money to help these charities it would be of great benefit to the city.”

Andy will donate any profits he eventually earns from online or radio streams to charity. He also hopes the song will be picked up and sung at the Hull City FC pitch.

“I can imagine it being really good on the football fields because of the applause that is in the song.

Andy’s song is currently on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify.
