Rap superstar Kanye West, also known as Ye, has canceled his scheduled appearance at this weekend’s Rolling Loud Miami 2022 concert at Hard Rock Stadium, organizers announced Sunday.
No reason was immediately given.
“We have been looking forward to headlining Ye Rolling Loud Miami 2022,” Rolling Loud co-founders Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler wrote in a statement they circulated. “We spent months working with him and his team on performance. Unfortunately, Ye decided he wouldn’t perform anymore.
Rapper Kid Cudi has been booked as a replacement, organizers announced via Twitter.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, Ye will no longer be performing at Rolling Loud Miami 2022. Please welcome @KiDCuDi!” says the tweet from the organizers.
“The Rager Boy is Coming!” Cudi, confirmed on Twitter.
The news broke Sunday afternoon and quickly spread among music sites for Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, Pitchfork and others.
According to Billboard, West, 45,’s decision not to perform came after a report on social media that he delayed the release of his 10th studio album, Donda, until August.
Born as Scott Mescudi, Kid Cudi, 35, has been in the music industry for over 10 years and has six solo studio albums and two collaborative albums among his work.
Cudi’s first album The Man on the Moon: The End of the Day came out in 2009.
